Note that I/O connections or production/consumer tag connections require the communication module and CPU to be in the same rack.

Q: What compatibility differences should be noted between the 1756-ENBT/A and 1756-ENET/B?

A: There are significant differences in functionality and compatibility between the two. For example, Schneider Electric's Advantys STBNIC2212 Ethernet interface module cannot be used with the older 1756-ENET/B, but it can communicate normally with the 1756-ENBT/A. If your project involves integration with third-party EtherNet/IP devices from other brands, the 1756-ENBT/A should be preferred to ensure compatibility.

Q: Which ControlLogix processors is the 1756-ENBT/A compatible with?

A: The 1756-ENBT/A is typically used with ControlLogix 5570 series and earlier L6x series processors (such as L61, L62, and L63). During installation, it plugs directly into the backplane of the ControlLogix rack, occupying one slot. Please note that this module does not support newer ControlLogix 5580 series controllers (such as L8x); these require enhanced Ethernet modules such as the 1756-EN2T or EN2TR.
